    Pictures from a trip to the Czech Republic and Germany.

    18th Feb 2008CD 16th - 20th July 1995 (104 images)
    Pictures taken on my first visit to the Czech Republic in July 1995. Staying in Tabor & Olomouc various colourful locos were seen around the system.
    21st Sep 2007CD 110, 111, 113 & 210 (47 images)
    Center Cab electric locos.

    The 110 & 111 classes work on 3Kv DC.
    Class 113 work on 1.5Kv DC Tabor - Bechyne
    The 210 class work on 25Kv AC.

    They are mainly a station and yard shunter but do have regular passenger duties.
    20th Sep 2007CD 121, 122, 123, 130 & 242 (105 images)
    A total of 84 Class 121 were built as E469.1 in 1960. 55 Class 122 were built in 1967, as E469.1, then 29 E469.3 were built in 1971, later to become Class 123.
    Most of these locos are still in service and are allocated
    to Usti-nad-Labum Depot.
    19th Sep 2007CD 140 & 141 (38 images)
    Class 140 and 141 were built by Skoda from 1953 to 1960 as classes E499.0 & E499.1. The 140 is easily identified by the 6 porthole windows in the bodyside. The prototype 141 was built during the 140 production run and looks similar.
    18th Sep 2007CD 150 & 151 (33 images)
    In 1978 Skoda built 27 locos as Class E499.2. Later they became Class 150. From 1996 these locos are being converted to Class 151 increasing the maximum speed from 140 kmh to 160 kmh. These fine locos still work most of the express services from Praha to Olomouc & Ostrava.
    17th Sep 2007CD 162, 163, 263, 362, 363, 371 & 372 (101 images)
    This large family of locos were built by Skoda at Plzen.
    Class 162 & 163 are 3Kv DC only locos.
    Class 263 are 25Kv AC only.
    Class 362 & 363 work off 3Kv DC & 25Kv AC.
    A number of bogie swops have taken place between 162 & 363 locos to create more 163 & 362 locos.
    Class 371 & 372 work off 3Kv DC & 15Kv AC. They work to Berlin and in to Poland.
    16th Sep 2007CD 181 & 182 (30 images)
    Class 181 was built in 1961 & 1962 with Class 182 following on in 1963 - 1965. Class 182 is slighly more powerful and has differant bogies. Most of these locos are being withdrawn as they are too slow, 90kmh, for the main Praha - Ostrava line which has been upgrades to 160 - 200 Kmh.
    The locos are finding new work in private ownership and in Poland.
    15th Sep 2007CD 230, 240, 340 (41 images)
    Class 230 & 240 work off 25Kv Ac. They work from Brno & Ceske Budjovice depots on freight and passenger.
    The 3 locos in Class 340 were converted from class 240, with the same numbers to work off 25Kv and 15Kv AC in Austria.

    11th Sep 2007CD 742 & 743 (108 images)
    Class 742 was built from 1997 to 1986 as Class T466.2 A total of 494 locos were built for the CSD and private railways. They were built for medium to heavy shunting and freight work. The turn up on passenger work with DMU trailers.
    Ten locos of class 743 were built and are allocated to Liberec Depot. The locos have dynamic brakes for steeply graded lines.

    Photos of the popular Class 749 locos.
    These locos are popular with enthusiasts and the unsilenced locos make a fine sound. The locos were built from 1964 - 1971 as class 751 or 752. The 751's had steam heating but with the introduction of Electric Heating on passenger trains 60 locos were converted from 751 to 749 from 1992 - 1996.
